Hastings Athletic Club had a close contest with local rivals Eastbourne in the latest of this years National Young Athletes League matches at Waltham Forest, with Hastings finishing in third place behind Orion Harriers and Southend on Sea leaving Eastbourne in fourth position. Again a low turnout with many absentees meant that the local club struggled in a fixture that they would otherwise be expected to have won. The hot sun and strong wind on the home straight put paid to any ambitions of quick times. In spite of this those athletes present on the day put in a superb performance.
